Domain Name Management Policy

WP Lifeline no longer registers domain names. For domains we registered for existing clients, we keep them renewed until the owner asks us to release them: $29 USD per domain for renewals in 2026, and $75 USD per domain per year from 2027, which includes a management fee. You can move your domain to your own registrar at any time, and we will help you at no charge.

What we did

Prior to January 1, 2026, we registered domain names for clients through our own domain name registrar account and renewed them each year, as a courtesy. That meant your domain sat in our account, not yours.

What we no longer do

Since January 1, 2026, we do not register domain names for new clients, and we do not hold new domains in our account. New clients register their own domain, in their own account. For domains already in our account, we keep renewing and managing them under the pricing below, until the owner asks us to release them.

What it costs

Situation Price
Renewal in 2026 $29 USD per domain
Renewal in 2027 and beyond $75 USD per domain per year
Moving your domain to your own registrar No charge from us. Your new registrar charges its own transfer fee.

If your renewal date falls in 2026 and the domain has not moved yet, including while a transfer is in progress, we renew it at $29 USD so it never lapses.

Why the price changes in 2027

The $29 renewal price for 2026 covered little more than the registration fee we pay our domain name registrar. From 2027, the $75 is a management fee, not just a domain fee. It includes the registration fee we pay, plus the cost of managing the domain for you: watching renewal and expiry dates, keeping it locked and secured, making changes to it when they are required, responding if something goes wrong, and helping you transfer it to your own registrar if you ask. We also take responsibility for the domain never lapsing, which would take your website and email offline and can cost well over $100 to recover.

Your choice

Keep your domain with us. You do not need to do anything. We renew it each year at the rates above and invoice you, until you ask us to release it.

Move it to your own registrar. Tell us, and we will unlock the domain, give you the authorization code, and help you finish the transfer at no charge. You can ask at any time, including before your next renewal, and once it moves we stop billing for it. We recommend GoDaddy, Squarespace or Namecheap.

Notice we have given

We know a price change is never welcome, so we have tried to give you plenty of notice. We first wrote to clients about this in January 2026, and followed up through the spring with the options and the 2027 pricing. This page puts everything in one place. If anything is unclear, or you would like to talk it through, write to us.

Domains in your own account

This policy covers domains registered in our account. If your domain is in your own account at a registrar such as GoDaddy, Squarespace or Namecheap, you hold the registration and the renewals, and we do not pay for, renew or manage it. If you are not sure where your domain is registered, send us the domain name and we will tell you.
